Rock Falls Man Deceased from Stabbing

At approximately 1:50am on Friday, February 14th. Rock Falls Police were dispatched to an address in the 600 block of West 20th Street in Rock Falls for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, they located a 27-year-old male who was suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to CGH Medical Center by ambulance where the victim succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Daniel J. Gordon of Rock Falls.

Rock Falls Police immediately launched a criminal investigation into the incident. A suspect was quickly identified. Shortly thereafter, the suspect arrived at the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office in Morrison where he was detained.

The suspect is identified as Kyle M. Cooper, age 36, of Rock Falls. He is currently being held in Whiteside County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Battery. Additional charges are pending.

Rock Falls Police are being assisted by the Sterling Police Department, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Troopers from the Illinois State Police, ISP Crime Scene Services, and the Illinois State Police Department of Criminal Investigation.

All individuals arrested are presumed innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
