The United Way of Whiteside County is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return to an in-person event for the Power of the Purse fundraiser, set to take place on Thursday, October 26th, at Deer Valley Banquets.
This evening promises to not only delight attendees but also support L.I.F.E. (Literacy Is Fun for Everyone). L.I.F.E. is an initiative that gives the gift of reading to children from birth to age 5 in Whiteside County. Each month, it offers a free book from the renowned Dolly Parton Imagination Library, instilling a lifelong love of reading in our youngest community members.
Beginning at 5:00 PM, guests will be treated to a delicious dinner and an exciting auction experience. The event will feature both live and silent auctions, showcasing a treasure of more than 60 purses, baskets, and gift certificates generously donated by our local businesses and organizations.
Our auction lineup boasts an irresistible array of items, including designer purses brimming with accessories, a coveted Culver’s party complete with a visit from the beloved mascot, Scoopie, a 10-day condo rental on picturesque Hutchinson Island, Florida, and delectable desserts to grace your table.
“The proceeds from this event directly ensure that high-quality books are readily available to every child in Whiteside County, completely free of charge” stated Betty Clementz, Chair of the Power of the Purse event. “For nearly two decades, we have witnessed the unwavering commitment of our community to nurturing generations of young readers.”
Individual tickets for this enchanting evening are priced at $40, with the option to reserve a table for eight for just $280.
