    WHAT
    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    From noon Saturday to 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The City of Rock Falls is holding its 3rd annual Tour of Lights House Decorating Contest in December. Residents can decorate their homes for Christmas however they choose and submit their house for a chance to win bragging rights and prizes.

To enter the contest, Rock Falls residents can call the Rock Falls Tourism office (815-622-1106) for a registration form. Email the completed form and a night photo of your display to [email protected]. All registrations must be received no later than 5pm on Tuesday, December 12th.

Voting will be done via Facebook at Visit Rock Falls or vote at Rock Falls City Hall from Wednesday, December 13th, Through Tuesday, December 19th. Prizes will be awarded fort he Most Extravagant, Best Use of Lights, and Best Theme. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 20th.
