Thanksgiving came early for local families in Canton on Thursday, November 20th, as State Senator Neil Anderson and State Representative Norine Hammond teamed up with Meridian of Illinois and the Salvation Army of Canton and Fulton County to distribute 150 turkeys to community members in need.

“It’s incredible to see so many smiles as families picked up their Thanksgiving turkeys,” said Senator Anderson. “Moments like this remind us why community matters.”

The event, held at the Salvation Army 360 Life Center, ensured families could enjoy a free turkey through a donation from Meridian of Illinois.

“Thanksgiving is about gratitude and giving back. We’re thrilled to partner with the Salvation Army and Meridian Health to bring a little extra joy to local families this season,” said Representative Hammond.

The turkey giveaway event is part of a statewide initiative by Meridian of Illinois to support communities in need during the holiday season.
