A 36-year-old Sterling resident, Robert Bellows Jr., has been taken into custody after a home on East Avenue was struck by gunfire late last month. The incident occurred at around 10:20 p.m. on October 30th. No one was injured, and authorities believe the shooting was isolated.
Following an investigation, Bellows was arrested during a search of a residence on 2nd Avenue, where evidence was seized. He faces multiple charges, including reckless conduct, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and burglary. Bellows is being held at the Whiteside County Jail while the investigation continues. Additional arrests may follow.
Bellows is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
