The 2nd Annual Bellson Music Fest will be held Saturday, June 10th, at the RB&W District in Rock Falls, IL. This event is being planned to carry out the legacy of Louie Bellson who was born in Rock Falls and became the renowned drummer, composer/arranger and band leader. At age 15, Bellson pioneered the double-bass drum setup. Rock Falls Tourism is working closely with Francine Bellson (widow of Louie Bellson) and Josh Duffee (music director from Davenport, IA) on all aspects of this great event.
Five bands consisting of jazz, blues and music honoring Louie Bellson will be played from 12 noon to 9:30 pm at the RB&W District amphitheater. We are pleased to announce that joining the headliner Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Trio will be 2 local bands performing.
The event kicks off at 12 noon with the BAJA Band, a group of musicians based in Northern and Central IL. BAJA achieves a soft pop-rock/funk sound featuring an electric, live horn section.
At 6:00 pm, the Starlight’s Theatre Blues Band takes the stage when Jerry Criss and his band will play Smooth Jazz, Classic Blues, Motown, Southern Soul and more. More announcements of future bands performing are forthcoming. Event hosted by Rock Falls Tourism.
