The Iowa 136 bridge over the Mississippi River will close on June 9th for repairs.
According to the Iowa DOT’s Davenport construction office, if you travel on the Iowa 136 bridge over the Mississippi River between Clinton, Iowa, and Fulton, Illinois, you should be aware of an upcoming closure that may slow down your trip.
Crews will close the Iowa 136 bridge over the Mississippi River starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 9th, and continuing until November 2025, weather permitting, to repair the bridge deck and perform maintenance work. During this closure, motorists will follow a marked detour route using U.S. 67, Illinois Route 84, and U.S. 30 to cross the river.
The Iowa DOT reminds drivers to exercise caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least doubled in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should remain alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
