The Dixon Park District announced at its Wednesday, February 22nd board meeting, it has received an $80,000 grant for an ADA accessible canoe and kayak launch at Lowell Park, replacing an out-of-use boat launch.

The proposed design will be one-of-a-kind for the area, with no such systems in place within a 30-mile radius of Lowell Park. The Park District will also add to the grant by including a slip to get canoes and kayaks to the water.

Canoes and kayaks will also be available to rent on site by using an app from your smartphone.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $95,737.50. The remaining $15,737.50 is the responsibility of the Park District. Construction
