CGH Medical Center Ribbon Cutting

CGH Medical Center hosted an open house and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 28, to celebrate the completion of its renovated hospital lobby. The event also recognized the installation of the new CGH Health Foundation Donor Wall.

The event welcomed community members; CGH administration, staff, and board members; Chamber of Commerce representatives from Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon; and CGH Health Foundation staff, board members, and donors. Attendees enjoyed refreshments, explored the updated spaces, and took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The multi-year renovation project, which began in 2023, focused on creating a more welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The improvements include redesigned main and west entrances, a modernized interior lobby, new Auxiliary offices, an updated Auxiliary Gift Shop, a new admitting area and security station, patient consultation rooms, renovated restrooms, and a refreshed Ryberg Auditorium for meetings and events. The cafeteria renovation represents the final phase of the lobby renovation project and is currently in progress, with completion expected in February 2026.

All interior construction work for the renovation was completed by the CGH Plant Operations and Maintenance (POM) department. POM staff were recognized at the event for their hard work and craftsmanship throughout the project.

“I am proud of our POM department,” said Cindy Zander, CGH Vice President of Support Services. “This is the largest project we have taken on, and they have done great work. They take pride in it, knowing their family will be cared for here.”

As part of the celebration, the CGH Health Foundation also celebrated its new Donor Wall, located within the renovated space. The wall features a digital touch screen display where visitors can view up-to-date donor information, learn about upcoming Foundation events, and explore details about Foundation programs. The installation also includes photos and printed donor listings that honor those who contribute to the Foundation’s mission of supporting health and wellness in the community.

“Projects like this represent our continued commitment to providing a welcoming, healing environment for everyone who walks through our doors,” said Dr. Paul Steinke, CGH President and CEO. “We are proud to share this updated space with our patients, visitors, and community.”
