Court Ordered Safe T Act Release in Dekalb County

SHARE NOW

As a result of the Pretrial Fairness Act, the man facing charges in a crash that killed a DeKalb County sheriff’s deputy last month has been released from custody. Nathan Sweeney of DeKalb is charged with reckless homicide and DUI causing death. Illinois State Police said Sweeney was under the influence of drugs when his truck ran off the road and slammed into Deputy Christina Musil’s squad car.

On Monday, a judge ordered his release from custody under conditions of the Pretrial Fairness Act. Musil, who was an officer for five years and also served in the National Guard, leaves behind three young children.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
