The City of Dixon is preparing for a leadership change as Police Chief Steve Howell steps down. During the latest City Council meeting, members expressed gratitude for Howell’s dedication, with Councilman Bishop also highlighting Interim Chief Deputy Doug Lehman’s service.
City Manager Dan Langloss confirmed a search committee is now in place, chaired by Dr. Jon Mandrell, Vice President of Academics at Sauk Valley College and a former police chief himself. The committee is currently considering four internal applicants, with the official search process scheduled to launch at the end of May. The city aims for a smooth transition in its police department leadership.
