On February 17th, 2025 the Dixon Police Department began investigation after a minor had reported to police they had been solicited for sex. Detectives conducted follow up interviews and a forensic interview was conducted with a child.
As a result of the investigation an arrest warrant was obtained for Daniel J. Berkeley, age 41, (1) count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child, a Class 3 Felony. On May 8th, Berkeley was subsequently taken into custody at the Winnebago County Court House and transferred to the Lee County Jail.
The Dixon Police Department was assisted by the Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center.
The charges are merely an allegation and all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
