The days that Illinoisans can fish without a license are coming up. The Illinois Free Fishing Days event is held each year in conjunction with National Go Fishing Day and will take place this month to coincide with Father’s Day weekend June 14-17. And Illinois residents can fish without purchasing a license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp. Outside of the event, the state requires anyone over the age of 16 to have a fishing license in order to fish.
