Two bills that were filed by State Representative Bradley J. Fritts (R-Dixon) have recently been signed into law by the governor.

House Bill 2963 permits Dixon Park District to place solar panels on land given to them by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. According to the representative, more and more park districts and other special districts are considering the use of alternative energy projects to subsidize their energy needs. The original conveyance of this Dixon Park Property, however stipulates that the property is to be restored entirely to it indigenous vegetation and/or used for recreational purposes.

House Bill 2582 removes a duplicate test in place for motorcycle license applicants under the age of 18. According to Fritts, both tests are identical and incur a fee. Under the old law, motorcycle drivers are required to take both a Cycle Driver Testing Course provided by IDOT and an additional motorcycle driver’s test at a Secretary of State driver’s facility. The goal of the bill was to eliminate the duplicative testing.

Both measures became effective June 30th.

Attached is audio with the representative on the bills.
