Illinois House Republican lawmakers formed a public safety working group earlier this year, to address the crime problem in the state of Illinois.
Members of the group this week held a capitol press conference to discuss legislation filed as a result of their Public Safety Working Group, including a number of bills that will address the rise in crime and ongoing uncertainty in current state law.
The group that has been working since January, has put together a package of 20 plus bills to further strengthen public safety in Illinois. Some of the measures would change parts of the controversial SAFE-T Act, including reinstating cash bail statewide.
