A Lee County Sheriff’s Office squad car and another vehicle collided on South Galena Avenue in Dixon Thursday afternoon. Authorities say the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m., when a southbound vehicle turned onto Eighth Street and struck the northbound squad car.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries. The deputy was taken by Advanced EMS to OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center and was reported to be in the process of being released a few hours later. The Dixon City Fire Department responded, also transporting the other driver to the same hospital. The incident caused brief traffic delays as emergency crews cleared the area.
