Today was Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day in Springfield. IGOLD has become the number one demonstration of citizens promoting gun owners’ rights in the United States and was started back in the early ‘90’s to put a face on Illinois gun owners.
In front of the Lincoln statue at the Capitol, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) told the group she was proud to stand in front of them today, not just as the House Republican Leader but as a fierce defender of the 2nd amendment. She said to be honest, this is a non-stop fight, adding that “every day House Republicans stand on the front line to defend law abiding gun owners like you.”
The minority leader said here in Illinois we are constantly facing policies that punish the wrong people.
McCombie said we all want safer communities, better mental health, to give law enforcement the tools they need to keep us safe, but stripping responsible citizens of their rights is not a solution but is a political attack.
