Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie was recently named a Prairie State Policy Champion by Americans for Prosperity-Illinois (AFP-IL). The award was given to key lawmakers from across the state who have been leading advocates on reining in government spending, easing Illinois’ state tax burden, and protecting homeschoolers in the Land of Lincoln.

Leader McCombie is honored to be recognized for her work advancing policies that help push Illinois forward.

“I’m committed to delivering responsible government spending, a lighter tax burden, and strong protections for homeschoolers,” said McCombie. “With the rising cost of living hitting so many Illinois families, pushing for common-sense, affordability-focused policies has never been more important in securing a better future for every community in our state.”

In naming McCombie one of the 2025 award recipients, AFP-IL State Director Jason Heffley said, “AFP-IL is dedicated to advancing policy that helps empower Illinoisians by reducing red tape and government overreach, beginning in the state legislature. Each of the Prairie State policy champions celebrated by AFP showcased principled leadership that stood up for Illinois taxpayers despite pressure from far-left interests in Springfield.”

McCombie was presented with her award in Springfield last week.
