Medical & Rescue Supply Donations for Ukraine from Sterling

SHARE NOW

The City of Sterling recently purchased two gently used fire engines to replace 20- and 21- year-old engines in the fleet. After 20 years, fire engines retain little value and are more difficult to resell.

The City of Sterling is working with an Illinois based group called US Ambulances for Ukraine to donate one of the old fire engines to Ukraine. Ukrainians will get far more benefit from this engine than anyone else ever will given the number of missile and drone attacks Russia is inflicting on civilian infrastructure on a daily basis. This would be their 3rd engine donation (Chillicothe and Bedford Park) in addition to 30+ambulance donations.

Now we need the community’s and surrounding agencies help on loading up the engine with trauma related medical and rescue supplies for responding to artillery, drone and missile strikes:

• ABC related (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)
• Gauze
• Anything for treating sucking chest wounds
• O2 bottles
• Splints
• Traction
• Backboards
• Cardiac Monitors
• Usable “outdates” are acceptable
• No gloves, masks or sanitizer

If you or your organization can donate any of these supplies to fill the truck, please contact: Teri Sathoff, City Clerk at [email protected] or 815-632-6630; or Chief Michael Dettman at [email protected] or 815-632-6680

Donations must be received by January 10th.
