Multiple Agencies Respond to Cimco Fire

Tuesday morning at approximately 10:58 the Sterling Fire Department, along with Rock Falls Fire Department and CGH EMS, were dispatched to Cimco Recycling. The report was for a large outside fire

While enroute, units noticed a large volume of smoke and called for a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box 20 to the Box Alarm level, with a Full Still as well. Just as units arrived, it was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm

Arriving Companies found the fire to be in the back of the property and involved a large portion of one of their shred piles. By the time the event was completed, there were over 21 Fire, EMS or Sheriff Departments involved. The scene was also assisted by the Salvation Army and 800- Boardup and Red Cross had been enroute, but they were turned around

The Sterling Fire Department announced the fire at the Cimco Recycling Center at 13509 Galt Road, had been extinguished and crews are no longer on scene, as of 4:30 pm yesterday.
