The first meeting of the new Chadwick Dementia Caregiver Support Group will be Monday, January 2nd, at 3:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 19 W. Second St. Individuals from the Chadwick, Lanark, Shannon, and Mt. Carroll area are all welcome.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide a safe place for caregivers of a family member or a friend with dementia to develop a support system. Co-leaders are Alan Skoog and Becky Geison, who have completed support group leadership training through the Alzheimers Association.
The group was formed in partnership with the CGH Health Foundation Dementia Project. One of the goals of the initiative is to help create Dementia Caregiver Support Groups in all the towns in the CGH Medical Center service area.
To register, please call Alan or Becky at either 815/590-6372 or 815/499-5161. Arrangements can be made to take care of your loved one during the meeting, if the leaders are notified in advance.
Future meetings will be held at the church the first Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. However, the time may change depending on the needs of group attendees.
