Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a major blaze Sunday evening at 1113 9th Avenue in Rock Falls. Crews arrived to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the attic of a neighboring two-story house. A MABAS Box Alarm prompted support from Dixon Rural and Milledgeville fire departments, among others.
The garage was declared a total loss and the home sustained significant damage. According to officials, the fire started when sparks from a grinder ignited nearby materials. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among residents or emergency personnel.
