In a tense situation at Walmart in Sterling, a potential threat triggered a major police response. On January 13th, around 1:20 PM, Sterling Police were alerted to a possible bomb in a vehicle parked at the store. Credible threats made by the vehicle’s owner, who had a history of similar offenses in California, prompted the evacuation of a section of the store.
Authorities, including the Quad City Bomb Squad and ATF, converged on the scene. After thorough inspections by bomb-detecting canines and bomb squad officers, the vehicle was declared safe by 5 PM, and the evacuated area was reopened. The investigation remains ongoing as officials piece together the circumstances behind the incident.
