Lee County residents will have a chance to learn more about local property taxes at a special “Property Tax 101” informational session set for March 4th. The session comes as debate intensifies over tax levy rates and public spending. At a recent meeting, the Lee County Farm Bureau pressed county supervisors to justify rising expenditures and explained how local property tax rates stack up statewide.
Officials say the upcoming event aims to increase transparency and answer questions from residents. Details about the time and location of the session will be available on the county’s official website and social media platforms.
While the Property Tax 101 meeting is intended for residents across the region (including those in Lee County), the session scheduled for March 4th, is actually being held just across the county line in Sterling at the Sterling Township Building. Even though it’s hosted in Whiteside County, the meeting covers the Illinois tax cycle, which is the same process used by Lee County.
