Road Improvement Season in Whiteside County Begins
Drivers in northwestern Illinois are facing major travel disruptions as construction intensifies. Westbound Illinois Route 2 in Sterling is now under heavy roadwork from East Third Street to Illinois 40, leading to significant traffic slowdowns.
Meanwhile, a full closure is in effect at the Genesee Court/Prairie Center Road bridge just west of Morrison High School as crews begin total bridge replacement—no through traffic is permitted.
Over in Lee County, the Bollman Road Bridge spanning I-88 has also shut down for structural repairs. Motorists should plan for alternate routes and expect extended delays throughout both counties.
