The Sterling Noon Rotary Club announced a $25,000 commitment over 10 years to support the Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC) Impact Program. This initiative will provide students with the opportunity to earn free tuition and fees through community service.

The donation will help expand access to higher education for Sterling students by supporting the program’s earned tuition model, which covers tuition and fees for up to three years at SVCC for students who meet specific community service and academic requirements.”

The SVCC Impact Program perfectly aligns with Rotary’s commitment to education and community service,” said Keri Olson, President of the Sterling Noon Rotary Club. We’re proud to support a program that not only makes college more accessible but also emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community through service."

The Impact Program requires students to complete 100 hours of community service before high school graduation and continue with 25 hours annually while enrolled at SVCC. Participants must also maintain good academic standing and apply for additional scholarships, creating a framework for student success.

“With 1,892 students actively volunteering, the Impact Program truly embodies Rotary’s motto of ‘Service Above Self.’ SVCC is deeply grateful to our district Rotary clubs for their commitment and investment in this program,” said Lori Cortez, Vice President of Advancement at SVCC.

The Sterling Noon Rotary club’s commitment joins several other area Rotary clubs that have also pledged significant support to the SVCC Impact Program, with total regional Rotary support exceeding $150,000. In recognition of this collective commitment, SVCC will rename the West Mall Plaza to “Rotary Plaza” creating a lasting tribute to Rotary”s investment in local education.

This regional collaboration among Rotary clubs shows the power of working together to address community needs,” added Olson. When multiple clubs unite behind a common cause, we can make a much greater impact than any single club could achieve alone.
