State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) issued the following statement after Governor Pritzker and numerous Democrats held a press conference on the possibility of Trump deploying the National Guard to Chicago:
“Governor Pritzker and his Democrat allies are willfully blind to the violence destroying Chicago. Their political theater doesn’t stop shootings, carjackings, or break-ins, it just proves they care more about headlines than saving lives. Their posturing isn’t just hypocritical, it’s dangerous.
“They clutch their pearls at the thought of President Trump stepping in, but the reality is he’s willing to do what they refuse to do. He is willing to stand up and take real action to protect Illinoisans.
“Enough with the excuses. If the only leadership we can count on comes from Washington, then it’s time to call out Illinois Democrats for their political theater and their willingness to protect their power instead of protecting their people.”
