Senator Andrew Chesney’s Fall Survey

State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) recently sent a survey to 71,000 households in the 45th Senate District, and results confirm that they want conservative and traditional values represented in Springfield policy discussions.

“I survey my constituency regularly to ensure my votes at the Capitol align with those who sent me there to take votes on their behalf,” said Chesney. “The results of my recent fall survey affirm that I am representing their values and priorities when I vote in Springfield.”

Results as of January 18, show an extreme dislike of the decision by Governor JB Pritzker and his Democrat allies to provide free healthcare to non-citizens. Eighty-one percent of the survey respondents said they do not support free healthcare for illegal immigrants.

“This survey was sent without regard for political affiliation,” added Chesney. “Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all received it, and they all had an opportunity to respond via the paper version or through an online version of the survey.”

The survey also revealed high disapproval of the elimination of cash bail in the Illinois court system, with 80% of the respondents saying they do not support that change within the criminal justice system. Additionally, just under 65% of those who took the survey expressed disapproval of the so-called “assault weapons” ban, and over 75% said people should use the restroom and other facilities according to the sex assigned to them at birth.

“I voted against every one of these measures in the General Assembly, and will continue to try to reverse these bad policy decisions,” Chesney said. “As we head into the 2024 session, I will be a leading voice on removing financial support and other incentives that make Illinois a desirable location for migrants and illegal immigrants.
