I want to extend my deepest condolences to the families, students, and community members in Minneapolis affected by today’s horrific shooting at Annunciation Catholic School. The loss of two young children and the injuries to so many others during a time of prayer is heartbreaking and unimaginable.
While this tragedy occurred outside of Whiteside County, we stand united in grief with the people of Minnesota. Acts of senseless violence against children, schools, and houses of worship shake every community to its core.
“What happened in Minneapolis is every parent’s worst nightmare. As a sheriff, but more importantly as a father and a grandfather, my heart breaks for the families who lost their children today. While this tragedy occurred outside Whiteside County, we stand united in grief and we remain committed to doing everything possible to keep our schools safe here at home.” – Sheriff John F. Booker
Here in Whiteside County, school safety remains one of my top priorities. We continue working closely with our schools, law enforcement partners, and community leaders to strengthen security, improve emergency response, and provide preventative programs that help keep our children safe.
No parent should ever fear for their child’s safety at school. Our office remains fully committed to doing everything possible to protect the children and families of Whiteside County.
