On Thursday, November 9th, at approximately 7am, Sterling Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block East 5th Street for a report of gun shots.
Upon arrival in the area officers found two vehicles that had been struck by bullets. No other damage was found. No persons were injured.
At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services were contacted to assist Sterling Police.
The Sterling Police Department has announced Dayton J. Hicks as the suspect, wanted for reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon on a Whiteside County arrest warrant.
