On Tuesday, May 28th, at approximately 9:12pm the Sterling Police Department responded to a report of gun shots being fired in the 2200 block East Lincolnway, Sterling. As officers arrived on scene of the gun shot complaint, they were notified that a male subject had been shot at that location. It was further learned the male gun–shot victim was being transported by private vehicle to CGH Medical Center. The gun–shot victim, a 28–year old male, was later transferred to Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, in serious condition.
This is an on–going investigation and further information will be released as it is learned.
This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is perceived to be no further threat to the public.
The Sterling Police Department was assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
