    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.

    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.

    Until noon CST today.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

SVCC Announces Next President

The Sauk Valley Community College Board of Trustees would like to announce the selection of Dr. Jon Mandrell as the College’s seventh president. Their vote was unanimous and aided by the collective confidence of the College through a campus-wide evaluation.

Dr. Mandrell noted, “Sauk has been a part of my life’s journey from the beginning, shaping who I am, and it is a great honor to now serve as president as we celebrate 60 incredible years. The dedication of our remarkable faculty and staff has always inspired me, and I look forward to working alongside them as we continue building Sauk’s future together with our incredible community.”

Dr. Mandrell will officially begin his presidential duties on June 1st, 2026.
