The community of Tampico is coming together this weekend to celebrate the life of Douglas “DJ” Dorathy, nearly two years after a tragic distracted-driving crash claimed the lives of DJ and two friends. Sunday would have marked DJ’s 18th birthday. His mother, Chasity Dorathy, has organized a public celebration at the Reagan Community Center, this Sunday, December 14th from noon to 5 p.m.
The event features food, a bake sale, a 50-50 drawing, raffle baskets, and a bags tournament. Funds raised will support local causes, while attendees share memories and honor DJ’s legacy as someone who always put others first.
