The 2nd Annual Bellson Music Fest will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the RB&W District in Rock Falls, IL. This event is being planned to carry out the legacy of Louie Bellson who was born in Rock Falls and became the renowned drummer, composer/arranger and band leader. At age 15, Bellson pioneered the double-bass drum setup. Rock Falls Tourism is working closely with Francine Bellson (widow of Louie Bellson) and Josh Duffee (music director from Davenport, IA) on all aspects of this great event.
The Bellson Music Fest begins with a drum clinic from 11 am to 12 noon at the McCormick Event Center. Percussion legend Walfredo Reyes, Jr., also known as drummer for the band “Chicago”, will conduct the drum clinic.
Five bands consisting of jazz, blues and music honoring Louie Bellson will be played from 12 noon to 9:30 pm at the RB&W District amphitheater. Featured to perform is the Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Trio, consisting of Reyes, Ben Tweedt and Matt Wiles who come together to play a wide variety of music styles.
