    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Troop 1 Announces Monthly Activity for February

Illinois State Police Troop 1 has released its enforcement figures for February, highlighting their commitment to road safety. Troopers handed out 912 citations, alongside 886 written warnings, while making 16 criminal arrests. Speeding remained a significant issue, with 302 citations issued, followed by 39 for distracted driving and 58 for occupant restraint violations.

Troop 1’s efforts included investigating 94 traffic crashes and assisting 305 motorists. They carried out 364 commercial vehicle inspections, putting 54 vehicles out of service. Importantly, there were 14 arrests for driving under the influence, and one tragic fatal crash was reported.

Troop 1, which encompasses Boone, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties, investigated one fatal crash in February.
