Help raise awareness about hunger and support the health of our neighbors at the first-ever Walk For Hunger Event. Illinois Extension will sponsor this event on Saturday, May 6th, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Centennial Park, Rock Falls, IL. To participate, bring one healthy shelf-stable food item that will be donated to the Sauk Valley Food Bank to be distributed to local food pantries. Check in with your food item at the Larson shelter upon arrival.
Enjoy fun, family activities along the walking path as you take steps to end hunger. Activities include wild mammals of Illinois, wild and wacky weather, buzzing insects, and celebrating pollinators led by Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists. As our first-ever Walk for Hunger event, we hope to have the community rally around this critical need. Registration is not required. For more information, contact Marcia Cruse at the Whiteside Extension Office at 815-632-3611.
