WSDR becomes Chicago Bears Radio Network Affiliate

(Kewanee, IL) WSDR 1240AM-93.1FM, part of the Regional Media Network, a leading radio station in west central Illinois, is thrilled to announce its partnership with the iconic Chicago Bears Radio Network as an official radio affiliate for the 2023-2024 NFL season. This exciting collaboration will allow WSDR to bring live game coverage, in-depth analysis, and exclusive interviews to Bears fans across the region.

As a trusted voice in the community, WSDR has been a prominent source of news and entertainment for years. This new affiliation with the Chicago Bears further solidifies the station’s commitment to delivering the best sports content to its loyal audience. WSDR’s extensive coverage of the Bears will include pre-game and post-game shows, interviews with players and coaches, as well as expert analysis from seasoned sports commentators.

The Chicago Bears Radio Network is led by the voice of the Bears, Jeff Joniak. Joniak enters his 23rd season as the play by play announcer of the Chicago Bears. He was selected by the NSMA as the 2022 Illinois Sportscaster of the Year and named to the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. 

Joniak is joined by Tom Thayer in the broadcast booth. Thayer is a former NFL offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins. Thayer was a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears team that won the Super Bowl under Mike Ditka. Prior to his NFL career, he was a member of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team where he was named an Honorable All-American, and graduated with a degree in media communications.

With a wide reach across the Sauk Valley area, WSDR will ensure that fans never miss a moment of the Bears’ thrilling games, both home and away. “Chicago professional sports is one of the most recognizable sports cities in the world, so for WSDR to have the opportunity to add one of the most historic NFL teams to our programming is absolutely amazing,” said Tom Katz, Morning Show Host on WSDR. “I can’t wait to talk some Bears football with guests during my show each weekday morning on WSDR.”
