Senator Neil Anderson Releases Statement Regarding Prolonged Government Shutdown

SHARE NOW

Aledo, IL – In response to Congress ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, State Senator Neil Anderson issued the following statement:

“The longest government shutdown in U.S. history is over. Thank you to Congressman Darin LaHood and Congresswoman Mary Miller for putting Illinois families first, restoring paychecks, essential services, and peace of mind.

“It’s shameful that Eric Sorenson, who originally supported this plan, chose politics over people, keeping the government closed and making Illinois families suffer, especially approaching the holiday season. Democrats orchestrated weeks of chaos for no reason. This shutdown was completely avoidable and never should have happened.”
