MACOMB, IL – The family of Silvie Yocum has announced that the annual Silvie’s Ride Against Child Abuse has been scheduled for Saturday, June 17th at the Macomb Elks Lodge.
Silvie’s Ride is a nearly daylong event that offers several ways for the public to support the cause, including an all-you-can-eat breakfast, a silent auction, and by participating in the ride.
The day starts with breakfast, which will be available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is $10 per person. There will also be a silent auction running from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Registration for the ride runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with registration fees of $20 per vehicle and $5 per passenger. All vehicles are welcome, but motorcycles are encouraged. There is a “blessing of the bikes” planned for 10 a.m. in the parking lot, with riders leaving the lodge with a police escort at 10:30 a.m.
The ride will follow a predetermined route with scheduled stops in McDonough, Warren, Henderson, and Hancock counties before returning to the Macomb Elks Lodge. Route maps will be available at registration. Riders are not required to follow the entire route from start to finish. Following the ride, dinner will be provided to registered riders at the Macomb Elks Lodge.
All proceeds from Silvie’s Ride are donated to Silvie’s Fund at Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC-CAA) Victim Services, which provides free counseling and advocacy services to survivors of abuse.
