May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Henry and Stark County Health Department, alongside First Choice Healthcare, is spotlighting local efforts to support mental wellness. Staff have been promoting the theme “Show Your Green,” with green t-shirt sales benefiting their mental health services support fund. This fund assists behavioral and mental health patients with needs like medication and transportation, often expenses not covered elsewhere. The initiative began thanks to donations from a local couple and The Hill Church. Community members who wish to contribute can mail in donations, clearly designated for mental health support, and will receive a receipt by mail.
