In a tragic turn of events in Sheridan, an individual targeted in an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation died from a self-inflicted gunshot during an arrest attempt by LaSalle County Sheriff’s deputies. The incident occurred on November 21, 2024, as officers served an arrest warrant at a residence in the 4300 block of East 2175th Road. According to reports, the deputies entered the home and confronted the suspect, who then retrieved a firearm and inflicted the fatal wound. No deputies discharged their weapons. They provided immediate first aid until EMS arrived, but the individual succumbed to their injuries. An autopsy is scheduled in McLean County, and the Illinois State Police have taken over the investigation, planning to submit findings to the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
