Tragic Collision on Lomax Road Claims Young Life in Whiteside County Wednesday Afternoon

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving an SUV and a dirt bike on Lomax Road. The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident on April 30, 2025, around 3:30 PM in the 18000 block of Lomax Road. Deputies found an unresponsive 13-year-old male upon arrival and immediately began medical aid. Despite their life-saving measures, the 13-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Multiple agencies assisted. The investigation is ongoing by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, and no further details will be released at this time.

Superintendent Heidi Lensing from the Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico School District said in a Facebook post that the local school community is mourning following the tragic loss of a student in an accident today. District Superintendent Heidi Lensing expressed deep sorrow, emphasizing the unimaginable grief the family and classmates faced. In response, the district is providing support services on the 6–12 campus starting May 1st, with counselors, social workers, and area ministers available to help students process this difficult news. The student’s name is being withheld out of respect for the family’s privacy. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children and watch for signs that they may need extra support in the days ahead.
