    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Tragic Shooting at Muscatine Hy-Vee Linked to Domestic Dispute

A fatal shooting occurred Monday inside the Muscatine Hy-Vee on 2nd Avenue. Authorities responded shortly after 2 PM on June 30, 2025. Officers discovered 37-year-old Kalista Rae Hallberg of Letts, Iowa, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, Ian Antonio Hernandez of Davenport, fled but was located in a red minivan at the intersection of Hwy 61 and Hwy 38. Police discovered Hernandez with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and provided medical assistance before he was transported in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe the incident was related to a domestic dispute between the victim and the suspect. The Muscatine Hy-Vee will remain closed until the scene is cleared.
