Confirmation of Identity Pending for Male Struck by Amtrak Train in Kewanee

The Kewanee Police Department is currently working to positively identify the 40-year-old individual killed on the train tracks Sunday night.  The Kewanee Police responded to a call around 8 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024, involving an Amtrak Train that struck an individual laying on the tracks near Cernovich Scrap Yard on East 6th Street.  Investigators arrived on scene and assisted Officers in locating identification and other personal items belonging to the unnamed deceased male.

The Kewanee Police Department is withholding his identity until confirmation of his identity has been made.  “The department is actively working with the Henry County Coroner’s Office to ensure all proper identification processes are completed.”

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry County Coroner’s Office, and the Amtrak Police Department assisted the Kewanee Police Dept with the investigation.
