A detailed description of the suspects and direction of travel allowed the Kewanee Police Department to locate two male suspects leaving the scene of a shots fired call at the old Boiler Shop property Sunday afternoon. Kewanee Police officers responded to the old Boiler Shop property on July 2, 2023, around 2:45 PM for reports of gunshots. A resident observed two subjects running away from the property after the reported gunshots and called the Kewanee Police Department with a detailed description and direction of travel.
Officers arrived in the area and located an 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old male juvenile, both matched the description of the suspects leaving the boiler shop property after the reported gunshots. Both suspects were searched and officers located a 9 mm semi-automatic Ruger pistol with a loaded magazine in the pistol’s magazine well in the juveniles bag. The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the Mary Davis Detention Home in Galesburg.

According to the Kewanee Police Blotter for Sunday, the 15-year-old juvenile was arrested for Criminal Trespass/Real Property, Possession of <10 Grams Cannabis, Unlawful use of a weapon, Aggravated Unlawful use of a weapon, Possession of a Firearm w/o FOID Card.
