    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    Until 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Beck’s Locations in Kewanee Pumping Gas for Donations for Chief Nick Welgat

Beck’s Gas station locations in Kewanee are pumping gas for donations and donating 10 cents a gallon to help Police Chief, Nick Welgat, support his battle against Cancer.  Beck’s has locations at 349 Tenney Street and 405 E. 2nd Street in Kewanee.  Beck’s employees are “Working for the Welgats” on Saturday, August 12, 2023, for tips plus Beck’s is donating 10 cents for each gallon of gas sold from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Nick Welgat was diagnosed with State 4 Lung Cancer that has metastasized to the bones.  Nick began Radiation, Chemotherapy and immunotherapy in July.  If you’d like to donate to Chief Welgat’s GoFundMe campaign you can do so by clicking here.
