The world’s largest public collection of Postcards was gifted in 2016 to Lake County, IL in 2016. Known as the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, the collection was a gift to the Newberry Library by the Lake County Forest Preserve which had overseen the collection. Now, the Newberry Library is showing off this incredibly unique collection. On Saturday, April 15th, 2023, Katherine Hamilton-Smith, curator of the Teich Archives will do a presentation on this fascinating collection in Bishop Hill. The presentation includes a documentary on the archives that demonstrates the ‘power and significance’ of postcards in American history.

The program begins at 1 PM on April 15th and is open to anyone who would like to attend at the Dairy Building in Bishop Hill. This is an all ages program and is sponsored by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association, the Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar Program.
