UPDATE – Mayor Jeff Grove, Mayor of LaSalle, said the Fire at the Carus Cemical Plant is under control and no evacuation will be necessary, as of a little after 11 AM.
The City of LaSalle has posted information regarding a chemical plant fire at Carus Chemical Manufacturing Plant located at 1500 8th St, La Salle, IL 61301. According to their website, Carus Chemical produces potassium permanganate, an oxidant used to treat drinking water, wastewater, industrial process chemicals and for numerous other applications.
