Christopher Wheaton was scheduled for a Motion Hearing to Reconsider the sentence he received from Judge Patton in November.  The Public Defender’s Office did not file the Motion to Reconsider Sentencing prior to the hearing on December 1, 2022, so the Motion Hearing is continued to December 12, 2022, at 11:30 AM.  Mr. Wheaton is currently in isolation to prepare for transfer to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), in accordance with IDOC rules.  Judge Terry Patton ruled that Mr. Wheaton will remain in the Henry County Jail until the Motion Hearing on December 12th.

On November 15, 2022, Judge Terry Patton sentenced Chris Wheaton to 15 years in IDOC for Count 1 of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and 10 years for Count 2 of Criminal Sexual Assault.  Wheaton must serve 85% of his sentence by law and he receives credit for time served. He will get Mandatory Supervised Release for up to life to be determined by the Prison board upon his release.  He must submit a DNA Sample, STD/HIV test and appear within 30 days of release to arrange payment of fines and assessments.  He must register as a sex offender upon release from prison.
