Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati has declared a snow emergency effective beginning 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 due to the National Weather Service’s issuing a Winter Storm Warning in effect through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10.
The NWS is predicting 7 to 12 inches of snow with winds gusting as high as 40 miles-per-hour Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night, in addition to blowing and drifting snow. A long duration snow event with two to three periods of heavy snow is expected. Amounts up to a foot of snow are likely.
The emergency declaration means Moline residents must move parked vehicles off designated snow routes to assist the City in its snow removal efforts.
